What Can I Put On Chair Legs To Protect Hardwood Floors?

There's a variety of different tools you can use to protect hardwood floors from chair legs.

Here are a few of our favorites:

Adhesive chair pads: These pads are easy to stick to the bottom of your chair. They come in a range of different colors and sizes and are perfect for preventing scratches.

Slip-on char pads:Slip-on chair pads are kind of like socks for your furniture. They slide right onto the chair leg and create a fabric layer between the furniture and the wood.

  • Nail-on chair pads:
  • These chair protectors have an embedded nail that pins them to the wood. They only work with wooden furniture (no plastic or metal) but offer a security that adhesive pads don't.

Velcro:If chair pads don't cut it for you, try some industrial velcro. Cut off a square of the "soft" side and adhere it to the bottom of your chair leg to protect the floor.

Tennis balls:Okay, this one might not be the ideal option for your dining room. But, if you're in a pinch and you don't have any "invisible" chair glides, you can use tennis balls as an alternative. Use a box cutter to make a slit in the ball and pop your chair leg right in. It'll protect your floor until you can find a real chair pad!

  • What Are Furniture Glides?

Furniture glides are basically the same as chair leg floor protectors. It's just a different term. It makes sense, given the way that floor protectors help the chair to "glide" across the floor.

Oftentimes, furniture glides are made from silicon or another plastic. This allows them to move seamlessly around a room without leaving a mark on the hardwood.
